Overview of Configuration Editor, Scan settings, UID Settings, and Users

Settings in Beam are reached from the sidebar (or on mobile by tapping the organisation name in the top bar). The configuration area includes four main screens: Configuration Editor, Scan settings, UID Settings, and Users.

ℹ️
On mobile, you can open the Settings page by tapping the organisation name in the top bar.

Configuration Editor

The Configuration Editor lets you manage categories and options. Open it from Settings to configure:

  • Categories: Main categories for items (e.g. Clothing, Shoes, Accessories). Add, edit, or reorder options; use the help icon for "What are Categories?".
  • Subcategories: Subcategories with filters. Each subcategory can be tied to a parent category via "Set predicate" so it only appears when that category is selected.
  • Sizes: Optional size options for items. Add options with the + button; edit or delete via the option menu.

Use "Add new option" to create an option (Name field). Use "Edit option" to change the name or delete. Use "Set predicate" to choose which categories a subcategory is shown for. Save changes at the bottom when done.

Scan settings

Scan settings control how Beam handles scanned codes and scanning behaviour:

  • Scan Codes: Regex patterns or JSON field mapping for identifying scanned codes. Each code has a Listener Name, Regex Mode or JSON Map Mode, Regex pattern or JSON Map Entries, and "Only Scan Once". Add codes with + and save.
  • Other settings: Enable scanning (use scan functionality), Hybrid Mode (Regex), and Scan Mode for how scanning works. Save at the bottom to apply.

UID Settings

UID Settings configure how item units are identified:

  • Tracking Modes: Select which modes to enable. Random UIDs: Random 24-char HFX codes. SGTIN-96: GSI International standard. Toggle each mode on or off.

Users

The Users screen lists team members and lets admins invite people:

  • User list: View all users; search and open a user to change their role.
  • Invite User: Name, Email, and Role (User, Superuser, Admin). Send the invitation to add someone to the organisation.
