Fast and accurate controls on outgoing orders

TopGroup was dealing with too many errors in outgoing orders due to inadequate or manual controls. Wrong items in shipments caused extra costs and return flows. To improve this process, TopGroup chose Beam as an automated control layer on the shop floor, connected via an API to their WMS CargoWise.

The processing of outgoing orders goes through an RFID scan portal from Beam, supplemented with RFID-blocking fencing that prevents unwanted readings. This ensures that items are only read within the scan zone and immediately checked against the expected order.

The items are already provided with RFID tags by the supplier. Thanks to a built-in translation module in Beam, these external RFID codes can be correctly recognized and assigned to the right item, without Beam itself having to manage all item data.

This setup makes it possible to fully automate and error-free control outgoing shipments, with minimal effort and without modification to the existing WMS and without external data needing to be managed. Beam thus functions as an accurate control with real-time validation, fewer errors, and direct operational feedback.
