In partnership with Horizon - With an 'incredibly' user-friendly inventory management system, the startup Beam Tracking wants to shake up the entire inventory process in the agricultural sector. “Because now many agro-entrepreneurs still do everything via notes and that often goes wrong,” say founders Dylan van der Schoor and Dennis Dekker.

Thanks to an investment from Horizon Flevoland's Proof of Concept Fund Flevoland (POC), they are expanding their application into a full-fledged data platform for inventory management.

Why gamechanger?

Why is Beam Tracking a game changer? “Our product actually solves a problem that exists within many agricultural companies. The agricultural sector is actually still a bit old-fashioned. They do all their inventory management on paper. Everything goes through notes, all administration. That takes a lot of time and effort. And it often goes wrong. With our user-friendly application for SMEs, you can easily keep track of inventory in just a few clicks. Everyone, even if you're a little less good with computers, should be able to work with them. '

To the next level

“And what's great about that is that it actually takes the entire business process to a higher level. The company works faster, more efficiently, employees can switch faster. We really make inventory management very simple and transparent. '

Cold stores

The Beam Tracking app can be accessed from any device (phone, laptop, computer or tablet). Van der Schoor continues: “Weak internet signal? Once you're back online, all data synchronizes within a second. We found out that you can't assume that there is internet everywhere, especially in the countryside. Especially not in cold stores and on the land'.

POC Fund and RIL

The startup was awarded 185,000 euros from Horizon Flevoland's POC Fund in December 2021 and financed 10 percent itself. Recently, a follow-up investment was provided by Horizon Flevoland together with the Rabobank Innovation Loan of an additional 365,000 euros. With an investment of a total of 550,000 euros, they want to further scale up Beam as a SaaS platform internationally, both in the agricultural sector and beyond.

“With this investment, we will further scale up Beam as an inventory management and traceability platform for SMEs. Every user must be able to easily register on the floor so that the company regains insight into inventory and processes. We are building a standardized product that can be arranged flexibly for each sector and company. By integrating this with other software packages via the API and accelerating registration with plug-and-play hardware, we are able to significantly improve our customers' processes. '

Wind with or against?

According to Dekker, the wind is always a bit against us. Because that's also good, he says. Because with that, you can make your idea better again. So Beam is just continuing to develop. They are now simplifying RFID (radio wave identification) technology and making it available to SMEs. “Thanks to smart chips in labels, we can track pallets, products and batches automatically. With this smart technology, companies are always 100 percent assured of correct inventory. '
