Order Settings

Enable or disable rental orders and configure available order types

Order settings let administrators control which order types are active for the organization. These settings determine what users see in the Orders section of the app.

Order settings are organization-wide and require the Admin role.

Available order types

RentalOn / OffItems going out temporarily and returning. Enable this if your organization does equipment rental or loans.

Enabling rental orders

Rental orders are disabled by default. To enable them:

  1. Go to Settings → Order Settings.
  2. Toggle Rental Orders on.
  3. The Rental option now appears in the order type selector when creating a new order.
  4. The orders list gains a Rental filter tab.

Rental orders follow the status flow: Open → Away → Done. The Away phase tracks items that are currently out with a customer. See Order Management and Processing returns for the full workflow.

Disabling rental orders

Turning the Rental toggle off hides the rental order type from the create order form. Existing rental orders are not deleted. They remain accessible but no new rental orders can be created.

If you disable rental orders while orders with status Away exist, those orders will remain in Away status but cannot be managed through normal order creation. Finalize or complete active rental orders before disabling the type.
