Sign up, sign in, reset your password, and manage your account

This guide covers everything you need to know about creating and managing your Beam account, from initial sign-up to switching between organizations.


Signing up

If you are setting up Beam for your organization for the first time, you create your account through Beam Classic in your browser.

You can sign up directly in the Beam app.

  1. Go to the Beam sign-up page at app.beamtracking.com/signup.
  2. Fill in the required fields: Company Name (the name of your organization), Your Name (your full name), Email (this will be your login), and Password (at least 8 characters).
  3. Click Sign up.
  4. You will receive an email with a confirmation code.
  5. Enter your email and the confirmation code on the confirmation page.
  6. Click Confirm.
  7. Once confirmed, you can sign in with your email and password.
  1. Open Beam and tap Get started.
  2. Fill in the required fields: Company Name (the name of your organization), Your Name (your full name), Email (this will be your login), and Password (at least 8 characters).
  3. Tap Create account.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email. Click the link in the email to confirm your account.
  5. Your account is now confirmed and you can sign in.

Signing in

  1. Go to app.beamtracking.com in your browser.
  2. Enter your Email and Password.
  3. Click Sign in.
  4. You will be taken to the Items page (the default home page).
  1. Open Beam and enter your Email and Password on the login screen.
  2. Tap Sign in.
  3. You will be taken to the Home dashboard.

Forgot your password

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it in a few steps:

  1. On the sign-in page at app.beamtracking.com, click Forgot your password?
  2. Enter your email address and click Send reset email.
  3. Check your email for a reset code.
  4. Enter your email, the reset code, and your new password.
  5. Click Update password.
  6. You can now sign in with your new password.
  1. On the login screen, tap Forgot password?
  2. Enter your email address and tap Send.
  3. Check your email and click the reset link. It will open the form with your email and reset code already filled in.
  4. Enter your new password and tap Update password.
  5. You can now sign in with your new password.

The reset code is time-sensitive. If it expires, you can request a new one by repeating the process.

Invited users

If an administrator has invited you to join an existing organization, you will receive an email with login credentials including a temporary password.

  1. Check your email for the invitation from Beam with your temporary password.
  2. Go to app.beamtracking.com and sign in with your email and the temporary password.
  3. You will be prompted to set a new password. Enter your new password and click Confirm new password.
  4. You are now ready to use Beam with the permissions your administrator has assigned to you.
  1. Check your email for the invitation from Beam. It contains your temporary password and a link that automatically signs you in.
  2. Click the link in the email your email and temporary password are filled in automatically.
  3. You will be prompted to set a new password. Enter your new password and confirm.
  4. You are now ready to use Beam with the permissions your administrator has assigned to you.

Your role and permissions are set by your organization's administrator. If you need access to additional features, contact your admin.

Switching organizations

If you belong to multiple organizations (for example, if you manage inventory for multiple branches), you can switch between them without signing out.

  1. Click the user icon in the top-right corner of the header bar.
  2. In the menu that appears, you will see your current email, organization, and role.
  3. If you belong to multiple organizations, you will see an option to change your active organization.
  4. Select the organization you want to switch to.
  5. The app will reload with the data from the selected organization.
  1. On the Home page, tap your organization ID in the top bar. On web this opens the switch view directly; in the app, tap Switch organization.
  2. Select the organization you want to switch to (if there are others available).
  3. The app will reload with the data from the selected organization.

Your role and permissions may differ between organizations. For example, you might be an Admin in one organization and a regular User in another.

Signing out

  1. Click the user icon in the top-right corner of the header bar.
  2. Click Sign out.
  3. You will be returned to the sign-in page.
  1. Tap your organization ID in the top bar.
  2. Tap Sign out.
  3. You will be returned to the login screen.

If you are working offline, make sure your device is back online and all data has synced before signing out to avoid losing any queued changes.
