Overview of all settings categories: personal, organization, scanner, and order

The Settings section lets you personalize your Beam experience and, for administrators, configure organization-wide preferences. Settings are organized into several categories to make it easy to find what you need.


Personal settings

Personal settings apply to your account and affect how the app looks and behaves for you:

  • Theme Choose between Light, Dark, or System (follows your device's theme setting).
  • Language Select your preferred language. Currently supported: English and Dutch.
  • Notifications Configure which notifications you receive, including alerts for stock changes, order updates, and scan results.

Organization settings (Admin)

These settings affect the entire organization and are only accessible to users with the Admin role:

  • Organization name The display name for your organization throughout the app.
  • Industry type Select the industry that best describes your organization. This may affect default configurations and recommendations.

Changes to organization settings apply to all users in the organization. Only make changes when you are sure they should affect everyone.

Configuration editor (Admin)

The configuration editor gives administrators fine-grained control over how Beam behaves for the organization:

  • Feature toggles Enable or disable specific features for your organization.
  • Default values Set default values for fields used when creating new items, orders, or locations.
  • Custom field labels Rename fields to match your industry terminology (for example, rename "Item" to "Product" or "Asset").

Scanner settings

Configure how scanning behaves in the app:

  • Multi-scan mode When enabled, scanning continues after finding an item so you can scan multiple items in a row without restarting.
  • Item identification toggle Enable or disable automatic item identification from scanned EPCs.
  • Sound feedback mode Control whether the app plays sounds on successful scans, errors, or both.
  • Power level defaults Set the default transmission power level for RFID readers when starting a scan.

Order settings

Customize how orders work in your organization:

  • Order types Define which types of orders are available (for example, outbound, inbound, transfer, rental).
  • Status workflows Configure the statuses an order goes through from creation to completion.
  • Required fields Set which fields must be filled in when creating or completing an order.

General settings

Additional settings that affect how the app operates:

  • Connection settings Configure server endpoints and connection behavior.
  • Performance settings Automatically managed based on your device's capabilities. Beam adapts animations, image quality, and rendering to provide the best experience on your hardware.

Performance settings are managed automatically by Beam's adaptive display system. You do not need to configure these manually the app detects your device's capabilities and adjusts accordingly.
