Five minutes from now, you'll have a working inventory with a real item tracked in a real location. No setup wizards, no configuration marathons — just results. Let's build something.
Step 1 — Sign in
Open Beam and sign in with your email and password. That's it. If someone from your organization invited you, check your inbox for a link.
Step 2 — Create your first item
This is the moment. You're about to add your first tracked item to Beam.
- Click + on the Items page.
- Give it a name — that's the only required field. Article code, category, barcode? All optional for now.
- Hit Save.
- Go to the Amounts tab on your item. Fill in the amount you want and press Save.
- Tap the Items card on Home, then tap Add item.

- A screen opens asking you to choose a tracking mode: Amount only, Random UIDs, or SGTIN-96. Pick Amount only for now — it's the simplest way to get started.
- Tap New, fill in the stock amount you want, and press Save.
Step 3 — See it in action
Your item is live. Click it to open the detail screen — info, stock levels, history, and everything else about this item lives here. You'll see tabs like Info, Amounts, and Move.

Step 4 — Give it a home
Items without a location are just data. Every item needs a place. If your organization already has locations set up, pick one. If not, create your first location now — it takes seconds.
- No locations yet? Go to Locations in the sidebar and click +. Give it a name (e.g. "Warehouse" or "Shelf A").
- Now move your item to that location: go to Move, select a location and the specific spot, and press Save.
- Done — your item is tracked at a real location.
